Once again World No. 1 Serena Williams proved to be too much for World No. 2 Maria Sharapova as she dethroned the defending French Open champion 6-4, 6-4 to capture her second title at Roland Garros (2002, 2013). Sharapova is now 0-4 on the year against Serena.
The French Open title was also Serena's 5th overall title in 2013.
For her career she has now won 16 major titles, putting her in exclusive company with the greatest of the game-- only Steffi Graf (22), Chris Evert (18) and Martina Navratilova (18) have won more major championships. But considering her current dominance there's no question she will be climbing up the ladder and quite possibly break Graf's record. It's not out of the realm of possibility.
