Extra! Extra! Jose Reyes Is Still A Met!

IT'S THE 1ST OF AUGUST-- and Jose Reyes is still in a Mets uniform.

As a Mets fan, I have to say that's great news because now Reyes has a decent chance of being the first NL MVP in Mets history.

Reyes currently leads the NL in the following categories--
  • Batting Average - .341
  • Hits - 141
  • Triples - 16
  • Runs Scored - 78
Reyes also leads the major leagues with 49 multi-hit games.

And if the Mets (55-54) continue to play decent baseball, it betters his chances even more.

What happens in the off-season when he becomes a free agent and commands a monster contract, I guess, is a story for another day. That's when things may get ugly for the cash-strapped Mets.

As for the mascot--

Yes Mr. Met, your prayers have been answered..... For now.
