The Agony Of Greg Oden (Again)

AP Photo

The Portland Trail Blazers Greg Oden is DONE for the season!

Again. And again. And again. And again.

Oden (who was the No. 1 overall pick) in the 2007 draft (ahead of Kevin Durant) will have season-ending knee surgery for the 4th consecutive year. He has played in a grand total of 82 games since being selected No. 1 overall 4 seasons ago. In other words, the equivalent of one season in a four season span.

Here's a breakdown of Oden's career games played:

2007-2008 - 0 games (had surgery in his right knee; missed entire season)
2008-2009 - 61 games (had season-ending knee surgery)
2009-2010 - 21 games (had season ending knee surgery)
2010-2011 - 0 games (will undergo season-ending knee surgery; miss entire season)

I guess for Oden we can say, "It's deja vu all over again" in the most negative of ways.

It's spooky because as I prepared to write this post, I remembered the post I wrote on Oden last year when his season came crashing down, The Agony Of Greg Oden, and how eerily similar his bad luck has been.

So I said to myself, why rewrite the same thoughts? Just post a link to last year's post because the story is exactly the same. Talk about spooky.

There is no question Oden's saga is the EPITOME of Deja Vu.

I guess sometimes facts are stranger than fiction. Amazing!
