Philadelphia Phillies vs. San Francisco Giants
Game 2: Phillies 6 - Giants 1
Series tied, 1-1
Part 2 of the H2O experiment didn't go well for the Giants.
The Good News: They were able to escape Part 1 (Roy Halladay) with a win.
The Bad News: They were forced to face Part 2 (Roy Oswalt) in Game 2.
....And Oswalt was masterful.
Oswalt: 8.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 9 K, 1 HR, 1.12 ERA
The Giants had no answers for Oswalt. Only Cody "Home Run" Ross was able to put a dent in his armor with a solo home run.
According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Ross (who hit 2 solo home runs in Game 1) became the 4th player in major league history to hit each of his team's first three home runs in a postseason series. The others were Babe Ruth (Yankees) in the 1926 World Series, Rusty Staub (Mets) in the 1973 NLCS and Willie Stargell (Pirates) in the 1979 World Series.
And now the Giants head out west to the friendly confines of AT&T Park. That's the good news.
The Bad News: They have to face Part 3 of H2O-- Cole Hamels.
To be continued....
