  1. The Yanks pretty much had to win it this year. Other than Texiera, Cano, and Mikly, that line-up is getting old. I love Jeter and he keeps performing, but at some point they'll need a new SS, C (Posada), OF (Damon) and DH (Matsui). Phillies have a young enough nucleus, other than Ibanez, that they could make the Series the next five years.

  2. I agree. Age is going to creep up on them soon. Once Jeter can't handle SS, he can maybe test the outfield for a year or two and then DH. The Phillies disappointed me though. They can play better. The one stat that sticks out with me is: Ryan Howard, prior to hitting that meaningless 2-run home run had 1 RBI in the series. How in the world did they expect to win with that kind of production from their biggest run producer? I give them credit for winning 2 games.

  3. I think during the season you have so many games back to back and different opponents you don't have time to really scout and exploit a player's weakness. But in the play-offs there's time for that stuff.

I think the Yankees just figured out what pitch he couldn't handle. Maybe next year they should scout Utley closer.

  4. Good point. Maybe the Dodgers should take a page from the Yankees.
